Challenge: The Prince William Clean Community Council and Clean Fairfax Council wanted to educate high school students about the negative impacts of littering and encourage them to accept responsibility for trash disposal. While the clients knew that young drivers are a hard-to-reach audience, research shows that they are also among the most frequent litterbugs on our nation's highways.
Solution: IDI produced the award-winning "Don't Junk and Drive" CD-ROM, which combined animated effects with interactive games to educate new drivers about the consequences of litter. An interactive format transported students through a hands-on journey in the Town of Pineville, where residents learn proper and responsible trash disposal habits.
Interactive 'visitors' to Pineville were able to make choices that illustrated their individual impact on the environment.
